We are currently looking for audio interviews of Clark Gable, and also interviews of others talking about the man himself.
We have acquired some really wonderful things for the 'Gable: the Ties that Bind' documentary and would love to add more, so if you have any interviews at all, or can point us in the direction of some, we'd love to hear from you.
Thank you for making our Clark Gable documentary a huge success!

Merry Christmas
We may have been a little quiet on the blog recently, but rest assured we are still working very hard behind-the-scenes and have uncovered some great sources and information over the past few months for 'Gable: The Ties that Bind'.
Things are understandably slowing down as we head towards Christmas, but we are very much looking forward to what January will bring, and the work ahead of us in 2011.
Don't forget if you would like to be involved in the project, we are still actively seeking people who met, knew, worked with or collected items on Clark Gable. Our project is going to be all the richer for your knowledge so please do not hesitate to contact us. You can email using the link on the profile page or go to the Clark Gable Project page on FaceBook to join the group and leave a message. You can also leave a comment here and we will get back to you.
Thanks and Happy Holidays!

Long Live the King
Clark Gable passed away fifty years ago today.
The 'Gable: The Ties that Bind' team will be working on the project today as always, and holding a good thought for the undisputed King of Hollywood. Gone but not forgotten.....

Almost time for the script....
Very shortly Tegan and I will be working on the script for the documentary. Our first draft will be an outline of what we want to include in the programme, act by act.
I would love to hear from you if you have anything you'd LOVE to see in the movie. Any particular photos, clips, audio, interviewees, stories etc. etc. We can't promise to use all suggestions but it will be great to hear your thoughts and we promise to consider all suggestions.
Thanks!

Gable Films
During the course of my research, I really want to watch as many Clark Gable films and documentaries as possible. Some are available in shops of course, but others are not released on DVD at all.
If you have any Gable movies (including documentaries) that you would be willing to share for research purposes I'd love to hear from you. Or if you can point me in the direction of where I could find particular movies, that would be wonderful too. Please leave a message here or email Michelle@michellemorgan.co.uk

Collections and Archives
I am currently putting a lot of effort into the documents and archives area of my research. With that in mind does anyone know of any library/university/museum collections related to Clark Gable?
I have located several collections but really need to leave no stone unturned, so if you can help I'd be very grateful. For example perhaps you know where the papers of his publicist are located, or corrrespondence between Gable and other people - either famous of not famous.
If you know of anything at all that could help, I'd be very happy. Even if it seems irrelevant, it may be just what I'm looking for, so please contact me. Thanks!

We are looking for anyone who may have memories of Clark Gable that they would like to share in the book, documentary or both. Maybe you can help directly, or perhaps you are related to someone who knew, worked with, met or saw Clark Gable in his every day life.
We would love to include any memories you have, and if they include photos too that is even better!
If you can help in any way, please contact me or leave a comment here and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. Thanks!

Gable in Northamptonshire
I am very happy to say that Gable: The Ties That Bind was given its first mention in an English local newspaper today.
The two page article spoke about his time in England; his life; the documentary; and the book. It also asked readers to contact us if they could help uncover stories and photos of Gable's time in Northamptonshire during World War II.
There were a few mistakes such as Carole Lombard being mentioned as Gable's co-star in Gone With The Wind(!) but apart from that it was a good article and included two great photos.
If anyone has any information related to Gable's time in Northamptonshire, please feel free to leave a comment here or email Michelle@MichelleMorgan.co.uk

I've had loads of emails congratulating us on the project and asking exactly what kind of footage we have for the documentary. Well here is a list of just some of the exclusive, HOME MOVIES that we have of Mr Gable and his family and that will be used in the documentary......
- the Lombard hunting footage (that was used in the Making of GWTW DVD),
- Gable in the Military,
- Gable's honeymoon with Lady Sylvia Ashley,
- Clark’s boating trips (one with Spencer Tracy),
- Kay Williams and the Spreckels family, including children John Clark Gable and Joan as babies,
- Burl Ives visits,
- the Gone With The Wind premiere
- the Gone With The Wind party,
- Clark Gable and Doris Day at the 1957 Academy Awards...
- and it goes on and on.

Magazine Articles
Does anyone have any Clark Gable magazine articles that they would like to share for our research? So far we have been able to use a great many newspaper articles to compile a timeline of events in Gable's life, but we are now looking for magazine articles such as interviews with Gable, his family, co-stars etc, and articles on specific periods of his life.
If you would like to share scans of your magazine articles, please post in the comment section and we will get back to you. You will, of course, be acknowledged in the book.
Thank you!

Memorabilia
I am happy to report that in the past few days, we have received some fantastic photos of Clark Gable items for the project. We are anxious to find more, however, so if you have any Clark-owned items in your collection, such as cheques, letters, identity cards, etc. etc. and wouldn't mind us using reproductions of them in the book, please get in touch. You will of course be acknowledged.
Thank you!
Thank you!

Collectors wanted
As 'Gable: The Ties That Bind' is very much a personal look at Clark Gable's life, we would very much like to include interviews, memories, photos of personally-owned memorabilia, personal snapshots etc. in both the book and the documentary.
If you, or anyone you know, can help in this regard we'd be extremely grateful. Please post a comment on this post, (along with your email address if you like) and I will contact you as soon as possible.

Clark and Carole
Carole Lombard and Clark Gable were the dream couple of Hollywood. Both divorcees, they married during a break in 'Gone With The Wind' and after Gable had obtained a divorce from his long-separated wife, Ria.
When Carole died in a plane crash in 1942, Clark was devastated. He brought her body back from Las Vegas to Los Angeles, and shortly after joined the war, declaring to friends that he 'didn't give a hoot' if he came back, as life was not worth living without Carole.
I found the following video on YouTube and I think it is excellent. It conveys the love the couple shared, and the heartache felt by Gable after his wife's death.
Check it out here:
And here is another one:
Introducing our host, Stan Taffel
I am very happy and proud to announce that three-time Emmy award winner Stan Taffel will be hosting 'Gable: The Ties That Bind'; and interviewing major film stars along with family and friends of Clark Gable. Stan is a natural interviewer and is guaranteed to bring a unique and special feel to the documentary.
You can watch a selection of Stan's clips here:
Stan is also acting as Moderator at the Republic Pictures 75th Anniversary, taking place this weekend. Please follow the link for more information:
